A Higher Power: Watch for Signs

The Cigarette That Quit Smoking: On considering a third attempt in as many months to quit smoking, I was checking out this site for tips. I decided that I should smoke one final "ciggy" while I questioned my method of attack so that this time, I would suceed. Observing the butt between my fingers, I realised I had only one small drag left. I carefully tapped to ash it ... and the remaining plug of tobacco shot out ... leaving nothing but a filter. I was shocked - that had never happened in my smoking career before. As silly as it sounds, I seriously believe it's a sign that my beloved cigarettes no longer want to be my support system when I need them. They are unhealthy, self-serving and they do not care about my needs. My ciggies abandoned me and now I'm leaving them for good! Moral of the story: keep your mind and heart open to receive moments of awareness into your life, no matter how trivial they seem. You never know what little symbol might trigger a lifetime of change.
