Be Persistent: Try Again Until You Succeed

One of the biggest problems that I believe all smokers make when
they try to quit is that they kick themselves when they fail and
then label themselves a failure and never try again. If you fail
so what!! Get up and try again and again until you succeed. I
actually smoked on and off for several years before finally
giving them up for good about ten years ago. I would decide to
quit and then wait until I felt the time right (it would usually
be within two weeks). I might wake up and say to myself "I'm
quiting". If I only lasted two hours, so what I knew I hadn't
failed, it just wasn't time. When I found myself wanting a
cigarette, I would tell myself "I'm not a smoker" and ignore the
impulse. With some practice this becomes very easy. The main
thing with this method is do not force anything if the cravings
get too bad go ahead and light up, so what, you will quit if you
continue to try.
