Cold Turkey: Don't Let the Cigarette Control You

by Dororthy Mcdougall

When i was a smoker i would have days where the habbit made me sick.I would smoke a ciggarett out of pure habbit, and not craving. When i did this i felt horrible, and i'm sure all smokers know that feeling. The feeling of the smoke going into your lungs when you need fresh air the most. Or the feeling when you wake up in the morning and your lungs are full of smoke. When i decited to quit, my method was: The last day before quitting i smokes 3x the amount of ciggaretts i usually did, actually forcing myself to oversmoke, and hating the habbit even more, i did this on a day where i had free time, and the next day i would be very busy. The next day when i woke up i felt terrible, and all i thought about was theis feeling. i just quit cold turkey. Whenever i thought i needed a ciggarett i thought about the feeling of disgust that cigaretts give me, and whenever i seen someone smoke i thought of how sad it was that those people were suffering as i use to. This did help me , and if you can keep yourself busy, and remember the feeling you get when you want to quit, all it takes is that first two weeks to get threw, after that you should be fine. I sucessfully quit 3x. I started again because i had people that were unconsiderate around me during the time i was quit, so it helps to have support. The third time i must say, "so far so good" it's all about you, you controll the cigarett, not vice vera. It's all habbit, more than addiction, if you can remember that, you can do it. If you are going to quit, make sure you're ready, because if you are not ready to quit, it will come back to haunt you. Good luck...
