Make a List: Bag of Mints and a Slinky

One month before my Quit Date (QD) I sat down and drew up a list
of reasons for quitting. Every cigarette I smoked after that I
would either be looking at this list or thinking about it. Two
weeks before my QD, I went and got a prescription for Zyban and
started it. One week before my QD, I had cut my cigarette intake
from a pack a day to four or five cigarettes a day. One day
before my QD, bought a bag of mints and a Slinky to keep my hands
busy. On my actual QD, I smoked my last cigarette and then
soaked and broke all the ones that remained. I also cleaned out
the ashtrays and took a thorough shower and tooth-brushing to
cleanse myself. It's worked so far. No breakdowns at all. If this
