Home > Multiple Steps for Quitting Smoking > Did He Get Off the Tic Tacs? Multiple Steps for Quitting Smoking: Did He Get Off the Tic Tacs?by Walter J. Cash Winthrop, Massachusetts As a 5+ yr member of AA I basically used the 12 step method. I started Ash Wdnesday (Catholic stuff good excuse). Decided to "cold turkey for 1st 48 hrs. (Sucked down that last drag @11:59.59 Tuesday night. Each AM "just for today", "just 24 hours", Dieted (Atkins Diet) same time. Massive quanitities of Tic-Tacs helped a lot. Not a single puff since March 8th ergo its now 10 weeks. Still on diet but did gain 3-4 lbs. Desire to smoke reduced but still there. I do use the God stuff. Ask "higher power" for help. It works for me so far. Must be careful I convince myself I'm now so good at stopping (after 30+ yrs) that I could have some and start again. AA lesson works on that as I know one drink may well wreck (or destroy) 5 yrs of recovery. Ahhh acceptance that I'm truly addicted to a damn single puff of one cigarette (or drink) or etc. I have no question this www.quitsmoking.com is a gr8 way to help quitting if (AA stuff) "HOW" H honesty, O openmind W willingness. Oh got off Tic-Tacs after 8 weeks. If you wanna quit "Ask for help"
