Multiple Steps for Quitting Smoking: Distraction, Exercise, Water, Rewards
by Zoe

I quit cold turkey on January 1, 1997. I had made many attempts
in the past and had even given up the habit for 2.5 years before
going back to it! It was difficult, but well worth it.
My strategy was to keep busy. When I typically would take a
"smoke" break at work, I would get up from my desk and walk two
flights of stairs...the heavy breathing would remind me why I had
decided to quit. I also drank a ton of water, exercised
regularly, avoided caffeine for a few weeks and avoided my
smoking haunts for several months. I rewarded myself with a trip,
some new clothes, dinner out, etc. Not only did I quit smoking,
but I lost 25 pounds too!If I can co it...you can too!
