Multiple Steps for Quitting Smoking: Eight Simple Steps

Okay first things first. I will quit smoking. That is what I told myself up until the day I actually started. I set myself up for 3 months before I started. I told my wife, friends and co-workers. "Hey (fill in the blank), I am going to quit smoking pretty soon." I feel that it helped me to understand psychologically that I was ready. It also let others around me to know what my plan was. I didn't start it on a horrible clichΘ day like New Years. What is the point? Everyone who tries to quit on that day who fails usually beats themselves up for it. I wasn't about ready to join that tired old clichΘ of a day. I really wanted to do it, so devised a plan of attack. Some of which worked most of which back fired. Here is what I have done so far and what I have planned in the future. 1. Take something in the beginning Zyban or Wellbutrin, stay away from patches and gums. Patches and gum keep the nicotine in your system (bad), Zyban and Wellbutrin curb your mental state. Allowing you to fight your cravings through a calm relaxing way. 2. Stay on them for 7 days. It is what I did, I unfortunately didn't fill my Zyban prescription in time so I was on wellbutrin for all 7 days. And after that I haven't taken anything. 3. Eat, drink and be marry! Why torcher yourself? Don't you deserve some happiness. I know the Correct way to do it is to exercise and all of that. Most people don't exercise now. Why tortcher Yourself , be happy. Eat what you want too. Exercise it off when you are ready. 4. Have as much Physical activity with your mate as possible. I know it isn't smoking, but when I am Craving it sure helps me, when I am searching out a smoke. I search out my wife. 5. Go on the internet. Hours use to go by when I smoked on line. I don't know why but your online one minute. And all the sudden 4 hours have gone by. 6. If you smoke, don't give up, try again. 7. Each and every time you try to quit tell yourself this. I DON'T NEED IT, I DON'T WANT IT. IF I SMOKE ONE, I MAY AS WELL SMOKE A PACK. Beating yourself up for doing it won't help. Be fair with yourself. Don't hurt your own feelings. 8. Pray, pray and pray. If you believe in anything or any one believe that God is with you. He will help you through it all. Just try him. He never disappoints. Love yourself and you will get through it. Love your kids and you will win. Love your mate and you will feel well. It all starts with you first thoughts. Accept yourself and your faults. You will fail at times, you will prevail on others. Focus in and achieve your goal. I know I will. 3 weeks no smokes, 2 weeks without anything. 1 week without a craving strong enough to act on. Four beautiful kids. One helpful strong wife and 2 healthy lungs (eventually).
