Multiple Steps for Quitting Smoking: Pick a Date and Change Your Brand

COLD TURKEY. I set a quit date of June 12, 2000. I set goals around my qutting smoking. I want to take up swimming and running and can't do either seriously as a smoker. I also want to get pregnant and start a family and do not want to be pregnant and smoking or a parent who smokes. I had to quit to reach future goals. Plus it has become so expensive!

So I selected the date and stuck to it. No patch, no gum just willpower. I live with two smokers and am in outside sales so I have the ability to smoke during the day quite easily. I have not cheated once and don't intend to.

I am 35 and started smoking in highschool. For the last 2 years I have a smoked a very, very light cigarette brand and I think that helped me alot. I would suggest that to anyone that wants to quit. Switch brands to a very light brand. This will make it much easier when you quit.

I never disliked smoking and loved it up until my last cigarette. But I knew it was bad for me and expensive too.

If you put your mind up to it, you can quit. I know it.
