Quit Smoking for Someone Else: Pull Out a Picture, Not a Cigarette
by Lanell Toki

My main motivation to quit was my 6 year old son. I kept a
picture of my son in my pocket at all times. Every time I wanted
a smoke, I pulled out the picture and reminded myself WHY I
quit. I enjoyed smoking despite the health risks, smell, etc.
But the one thing stronger than my love for cigarettes was the
love for my son. If being around for your children isn't
motivation enough, I don't know what is. His encouragement helps
so much too. All I need to do is hear him say, "Mommy, I'm so
glad you quit smoking so you'll live longer. I need you to be my
mommy for a very long time."
