Stay Away From Other Smokers: Take a Mini Vacation In Your Mind, Away from Other Smokers

The first thing I did was quit all my smoking buddies. (Hanging around with them while trying to quit wasn't working.) I didn't tell anyone I was quiting. I just decided, this is the day and stuck with it. I had heard that the urge to smoke lasts for only 60 seconds so I decided to think of something pleasureable during that 60 seconds. I imaged being at the Grand Canyon, lying on a warm rock staring off nto the distance. Feeling the breeze blow across my face and arms, seeing an eagle soar across the expanse of canyon, etc. I'd add more sensations, to make it more real. So, whenevere I felt like smoking a cigarette, I'd take a "mini vacation" to the Grand Canyon. You decide where you want to go in your imagination, but that's how I quit. It's been approximately 8 months now. I'm not sure as I made no note of when I quit for I am sure to never smoke again, so why would I want to know how long its been since I smoked. Didn't talk about smoking in any way. Talking about it makes you want to smoke. Don't even mention that you've stopped. If someone asks, just answer but don't elaborate at least in the early stages. I still have the urge to smoke, but when the urge hits me, I'm off on my "vacation." Good luck!
