Triggers: Confront Your Smoking Triggers and Situations

It's only been a month but I feel really good about how things are going and am more confident than ever that it will stick. The tougher part for me has been the psychological addiction. My recommendation for those of you who also have a hard time quitting psychologically is to confront your most challenging situations and then reward yourself with the passing of each successful scenario. Example - Don't avoid parties you would normally smoke at, people you would smoke with. Embrace them - go outside with your smoker friend when he wants a smoke break and chat w/him and then when he's all done with his cigarette and you've managed to fight your urge, not give in, and not have a drag, congratulate yourself with another job well done. I think this kind of reinforcement (if you have the will power to handle it) builds your confidence and makes you feel accomplished. These instances serve as challenges that you overcome. So ultimately I'd say my advice is not to back down but from smokey situations but to confront them and beat them. It can be very satisfying.
