Visualization: Think of Dying of Cancer

by Shannon

I quit cold turkey. It has been 3 weeks today, I know that may not sound like a long period of time to some, but those who are just quitting or who have quit as I did will know sometimes it feels like an eternity. My method to not picking one up right now, is the thought of dying from cancer, heart problems or any other illness you can get from smoking. I have watched my grandmother who has never smoked or drank in her life go through having a very rare form of cancer, she is still alive but has had to have two surgery's. Seeing her in the pain and going through the tourment she has endured made me think...she never put things into her that caused this, yet here I am intentionally doing something that is going to possibly cause me much pain and suffering as I grow older. So if I can prevent that possibly from happening I would be stupid not to. I would never want to put my family, friends or anyone who cares for me through that either. Smoking is not worth all that. Thank you and good luck to anyone who is quitting, and congradulations to those who have.
